A rare large size QUART Pike's Peak Ceredo historical flask made in the early 1860s at the Ceredo Glass Works in Ceredo, West Virginia.... FOR PIKE'S PEAK (boldly emb on front arched above a prospector with walking stick & knapsack).......
Blank oval under his feet. Back has bold emb eagle off center with arrows..... CEREDO (boldly emb in oval near base). Hand blown in mold, bimal.....Early half circle hinge mold smooth base..... Excellent shiny near mint condition with no chips, cracks or damage. Some normal light high point wear but not bad. Bottle still has contents (its turned into molasses) Also, bottle still has its original cork. The Ceredo Glass Works was only in business a short time in the 1860s.
Ceredo is a tiny town located in West Virginia right on the Ohio River. West Virginia was caught in the turmoil of the Civil War and most men from the Ceredo area joined Union Army regiments. This big quart size flask is harder to find than the pint and half pint flasks.
