MINT condition Original World War 2 British Military Fairbairn-Sykes, F-S 3rd pattern Fighting Knife (commando Dagger) with original leather scabbard. This Dagger is an early World War 2 production 3rd pattern with the scarce very desirable Drop-forged hand fitted blade manufactured from early 1943 to the early 1944. The steel cross guard is typical Fairbairn-Sykes World War 2 production 1/8 thick and stamped with the scarce British Military acceptance Broad-arrow and I for issue to the China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre of World War 2 and also stamped England to comply with post World war 2 English export laws.There is no maker mark which is correct and typical of these Daggers. The hilt is a zinc-alloy with chemical blackened finish.
The hilt mold number is number 3 and has the small blued steel acorn pommel nut. Dagger overall length is 11 10/16 with a 6 13/16 Drop-forged, hand fitted blued Steel blade. Dagger is in MINT condition showing very, very slight use and age , with no damage and has about 99.9% of the original factory blackened handle and bluing finish to blade and cross guard.
Scabbard is typical Fairbairn-Sykes World War 2 production die-stamped leather and has a brass chape and staple. Nice original piece of World War2 military history for the advanced collector which is rare to find in this condition and is a prime example of this variation of the Fairbairn - Sykes Commando Dagger.
