This Vintage chess set is the first collector's chess set made by Franklin Mint: Tournament at Camelot. The color brochure states:It is an original work of art issued in strictly limited edition. The board and pieces are in excellent condition.It was previously cherished and enjoyed by a great lover of chesss and an avid player. The chess set is accompanied by a specially designed combination collector's storage chest (made out of walnut) and playing board. The set was made by an artist who sculpted the model of each individual piece in extremely fine detail.
It was then meticulously crafted in fine pewter and electroplated with. 995 silver and pure 24 karat gold.In the set the King is Arthur himself, the Queen is Guinevere, the King's Bishop is Merlin, the Queen's Bishop is an Abbot, the King's Knight is Sir Galahad, the Queen's Knight is Sir Lancelot, one of the Rooks (Castles) is sculpted in the shape of a jousting pavillian while the other is in the shape of a fortress tower. There are several different pawns that have on their cloaks various of the 3 crowns - the heraldic symbol of King Arthur's royal power.
